Entry 14: Coming Home

And so the adventure ended, and we tessered back home. Although I wondered how Father and Calvin managed to be there, I didn't mind.

We were home! And everyone was united again.

All's well ends well.

This adventure has been the most meaningful one of my life. Through it, I learnt many new values. I learnt on how to love, for that was what really made the world go round.
I made many new friends. I grasped many difficult concepts.

And most importantly of all, we saved Father.

Post 13: The Final Showdown

So I'm back on Camazotz. But this time there aren't anymore robots playing ball or skipping rope, or, for the matter, throwing out newspapers.

I'm here alone, on an almost impossible mission. My feet keep taking me towards IT, and all the time I'm thinking: What is it that I have but IT doesn't?

And it seemed that even though I was walking at the slowest rate possible, I still arrived. I still saw the gigantic brain, as repulsive and as appalling as ever.

This is Charles This is IT. This is it.

IT has hate. It has anger. But...

IT doesn't have love!

I have it. Mrs Whatsit's, Aunt Beast's, Father's, Mother's, Calvin's, and the real Charles'.
And I have my love for them.

But how? How do I use love to defeat a giant brain? If I give love to IT it would probably die. But being such a repulsive thing that only hypnotises people, I can't do it.
But..

I can love Charles! Yes, I did it! Charles was back! I saved him!

Entry 12: Saving Charles

The problem so far: Charles is still stuck on Camazotz as a slave of a giant brain. (I know it sounds impossible.)

Who will save him?

I will. I volunteered. I'm his sister. It's only appropriate that I go. Calvin is not related to Charles, while Father    may become the next space satellite and the first ever human one.

So there it is. Wish me luck, everyone.

I hope this isn't the last blog post I have to write.

If you see a new one on how giant brains should rule the universe, that means I have failed in my mission.

So...

Entry 11: Aunt Beast

We landed somewhere. In the galaxy. Argh. My brain is frozen. Why can't I. Move? I'm very. Much alive. What's happening?

Where's Charles? Why is Father so useless? He left Charles on Camazotz! He's supposed to help! And I thought all my troubles would be over after we rescued Father. What are we going to do now? We'll never see the twins or Mother again!

Suddenly we saw some strange beings appraoching us. What were they? On Uriel, there were centaurs with wings, and on Camazotz...well, at least there were people.
They were as dull and grey as the planet they inhabited, had four arms each equipped with five tentacles. They also towered above us, even Father, and lacked eyes, replaced with soft indentations. What were these monsters?

But as the saying goes, "Do not judge a book by its cover."

Soon we established a relationship with them. We learnt that they were from Ixchel. These beasts were caring and compassionate, and one of them took care of me. She was Aunt Beast.

Interestingly, they do not know about light and darkness. However, they understand more things than us humans, even when we can see but they can't. They do not understand what to see means. The beast said that our sight was limited, and it told me that the things that are seen are temporal, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

She kept telling us that she does not really understand us and said that we were very complicated. I guess that's what happens when we communicate with organisms form other planets.

How confusing all this is.

Entry 10: Father!!!

Charles, being the drone that he is now, was still eating his synthetic food. Where is Charles?!?!?! They look identical, but they are different in essence. The boy in front of me is only a doll! Charles is now somewhere, but where? In the meantime we've got this clone over here. "We've all been wrong?" "He is our friend?" He's hypnotised! How do we get Charles back?
At least now we can go to find Father. Charles would bring us there.
Along the way, we tried to bring Charles back. Calvin tried to use his gift of communication, and it nearly worked! Charles said that differences created problems, and it was because of differences that war started, that I was unhappy in school.
Charles said that IT would control everybody on Camazotz. Everybody would be exactly alike. He said that they would be happy this way.
Finally we reached a small room, and in it was a large, round transparent column. I don't need to tell you who was in it, right?

Our joy was short-lived. Charles went to IT, and we had no choice but to follow. IT is a brain. A gigantic one that is bigger than the photograph here. In the end, I almost could not hold out anymore, and so Father tessered.
What a relief...

Entry 9: The Man with Red Eyes

I'll never recite the multiplication table again.

Against Calvin's compulsion, we entered the CENTRAL Central Intelligence Centre of Camazotz. There, Charles' bravado got us reported by a man who ran the number one spelling machine on the second grade level. Charles, oh Charles...

As we entered the wall (it opened up due to the man's A21 card), we walked down an aisle. Suddenly, Charles said, with a panicked note in his voice, "Don't let go my hands! Hold me tight! He's trying to get at me!" We continued down the walkway, and at the end was a man in a chair. The most peculiar thing about the man was that he had red eyes, and had  blue light pulsing at the top of his forehead. Charles said that the man could hypnotise us if we looked into his eyes. However, he said there were other ways. He wanted to show us, how foolish it is to fight, when he would make our decisions for us and take away all responsibility from us. Ha.
Then, he got us to say the multiplication table together, to hypnotise us. We retorted, by shouting out other things, like nursery rhymes.
He laughed and said we had passed our preliminary tests with flying colours. He told us it was unnecessary to speak as he could understand us.
Charles then darted forward and punched the man. He said that something was speaking through the man. The man got Charles to look into his eyes to find out who he was. I tackled Charles, to get him out of his trance. The man got angry. I got him to give us food. He gave us synthetic food. Charles wanted to get hypnotised again as the man promised us to tell where Father was if Charles did it. Then, he got hypnotised, and started eating his synthetic food like it was the best meal ever. He refused to eat only a moment before, saying that the food tasted like sand.
What has happened to Charles????!!!!!

Entry 8: Camazotz

Then, we tessered again, this time onto Camazotz. It was here the real adventure began. Mrs Whatsit told us that Father was here. This must be it! However, Mrs Whatsit said that the planet was dangerous, and I guess that was true. Even worse, the Mrs Ws said that they could not help us but could see us, and we could not see them or ask them for help. Is this sort of a test? But if we succeeded......
When we went into town, we saw that the children were playing with skipping ropes and balls. The houses were neat and identical. yet, something seems amiss in Camazotz. After a while, we found out that everybody did everything exactly at the same time. How do they do it? We could never have done it like that if we tried. (But I don't want to try.)
Suddenly, we saw a different scene unfold. one of the boys was bouncing his ball rather badly. He sometimes dropped it and had to ran after it; other times, he threw the ball up in the air and tried to catch it. Then, his mother came out, put her hand to her mouth and dashed into the house with the boy. What is going on? What is she afraid of?
After that, we saw a boy coming down the street on something like the combination of a bicycle and motorcycle. He was the newspaper boy as he claimed. And, like the children playing, there was something wrong with this. When he threw the newspaper, it flew at identically the same arc at each doorway and landed at an identical spot. How does he do that? then, we had a rather weird conversation. Calvin said that the whole thing smells and I definitely agree with him. No wonder Mrs Whatsit said that the planet was dangerous. Even Charles can't get in at Camazotz. I wonder...
